Spiced Mango Hemp Milk
Thank goodness, mangoes are always in season somewhere around the world and available in our stores year-round. Besides the many health benefits, I find the unique, fruity, sweet flavor of ripe mango just irresistible. When it’s cold outside, I love to combine it with warming spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and star anise! To be honest, I enjoy this perfect combination of wholesome goodness any time of the year, and a tasty immune booster like this one is always in season.
You will need:
- high speed blender
Ingredients
(For about 4 servings)
For the blender:
- 1 ripe mango (mine weighed 12.5 oz/350 g, peeled, seed removed)
- ½ cup (60 g) hemp hearts
- 6 dried, pitted dates (2 oz/60 g)
- a pinch Celtic sea salt
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground cardamom
- 1 star anise
- 3 inch (7½ cm) piece of fresh turmeric, about the size of your little finger or 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 2 inch (5 cm) piece of fresh ginger
- 2 cups (470 ml) filtered water
To garnish (optional):
- plant based, plain, unsweetened yogurt
- star anise
- cinnamon
Preparation:
Peel mango and remove the seed.
Wash and scrub fresh turmeric and ginger.
Blend all the blender ingredients at the highest setting for 1-2 minutes until a very creamy consistency is achieved. You might have to use a tamper to bush the ingredients down towards the blades.
Pour the spiced mango hemp milk into individual glasses and, optionally, top with plain, plant based yogurt, cinnamon, and star anise. Enjoy!
Notes
- Try this as a refreshing summer beverage by replacing one or even both cups of water with ice cubes. So good!
